I have decided not to write a blog about the “Flower Stem” tasting note which can be found on the Revised Scottish Whisky Flavour Wheel. Why? Because I have found only one tasting note that even mentions this note. And to be honest, I can’t remember when I last smelled and tasted a flower’s stem.

I must have smelled it on it’s own. The Stem I mean, but most of the time there was a flower on the end of the stem. I don’t go around buying flower stems. I usually buy a flower and a stem.

I may smell the stem of the flowers next time I buy flowers. Will make a conscious effort to do so!

Just for fun I added a photo of a flower stem diagram. If you ever have this tasting note let me know ok.

To tell you the truth. I can understand that “Flower Stem” is on the wheel since “Floral” and “leafy” are also on the flavour wheel. Might as well add the stem too I guess and complete the plant. Or should “rooty” be on there too?

Yes, that last part of this blow was a tad cynical. We would not want to have useless tasting notes now would we.
